Solution
A lens that contains "IS" in the lens name has an image stabilizer inside the lens.
If you use the lens image stabilizer function, slight camera shake is corrected so that you can shoot clear images.
Because the results of the lens image stabilizer can be viewed on the LCD monitor, a stable LCD monitor image can be obtained. This makes it possible to compose and focus shots more precisely.
In addition, because the image stabilizer can be designed to match the specifications of each lens, it realizes high-precision image stabilization in wide-ranging focal lengths with super-telephoto to standard zoom lenses.
The procedure for enabling an IS lens' image stabilizer function depends on the lens. Confirm the correct procedure for your lens.
Enabling the lens image stabilizer on an EF-M Lens (operated via menu)
Set it with the menu*. By default, it is set to [Enable].
*This menu is displayed when an EF-M lens with IS function has been attached.
1. Press the <MENU> button to display the menu screen.
2. Under the [
] tab, select [Image Stabilizer].
3. Select [Enable], then press the <MENU> button to close the menu.
Enabling the lens image stabilizer on lenses other than EF-M (operated via switch)
Set the lens image stabilizer switch to <ON> as shown in the image below before shooting.
CAUTION
- The Image Stabilizer cannot correct "subject blur", when the subject moves at the time of exposure.
- For bulb exposures, set the IS to <OFF>. If <ON> is set, Image Stabilizer incorrect operation may occur.
- The Image Stabilizer may not be effective for excessive shaking such as on a rocking boat.
NOTE
- The Image Stabilizer works in all focus modes.
- When the IS is set to <OFF>, [ ] will appear on the screen.
- When using a tripod, you can still shoot with the IS set to <ON> with no problem. However, to save battery power, setting the IS to <OFF> is recommended.
- The Image Stabilizer is effective even when the camera is mounted on a monopod.
