Cleaning the Inside of the Machine (Bottom Plate Cleaning)
Remove stains from the inside of the machine. If the inside of the machine becomes dirty, printed paper may get dirty, so we recommend performing cleaning regularly.
IMPORTANT
Do not perform any other operations while performing the Bottom Plate Cleaning.
You need to prepare: a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper*
* Be sure to use a new piece of paper.
1. Make sure that the power is turned on.
2. Open the paper output tray gently.
3. Clean the inside of the machine.
(1) Press the MENU button.
(2) Select
Setup, then press the OK button.
The setup menu screen will appear.
(3) Select
Maintenance, then press the OK button.
The Maintenance screen will appear.
(4) Select Bottom plate cleaning, then press the OK button.
The confirmation screen will appear.
(5) Select Yes, then press the OK button.
(6) Follow the message to remove any paper from the rear tray, then press the OK button.
(7) Follow the message to fold a single sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in half widthwise, unfold the paper, then press the OK button.
(8) Follow the message to load only this sheet of paper in the rear tray with the open side facing you, then press the OK button.
Load the paper (A) after unfolding it.
The paper cleans the inside of the machine as it feeds through the machine.
Check the folded part of the ejected paper. If it is smudged with ink, perform Bottom Plate Cleaning again.
(9) When the completion message appears, press the OK button.
The screen will return to the Maintenance screen.
If the problem is not resolved after performing cleaning again, the protrusions inside the machine may be stained. Clean them according to instructions.

- When performing Bottom Plate Cleaning again, be sure to use a new piece of paper.
Cleaning the Protrusions inside the Machine
IMPORTANT
Be sure to turn off the power and disconnect the power plug before cleaning the machine.
- The power cannot be turned off while the machine is sending or receiving a fax, or when unsent faxes are stored in the machine's memory. Make sure if the machine completed sending or receiving all the faxes before disconnecting the power plug.
- The machine cannot send or receive faxes when the power is turned off.
- If the power plug is disconnected, the date/time settings will be reset and all documents stored in the machine's memory will be lost. Send or print a necessary document, or save it on a memory card or USB flash drive before disconnecting the power plug.
You need to prepare: cotton swab
If the protrusions inside the machine are stained, wipe off any ink from the protrusions using a cotton swab or the like.
