CanoScan Toolbox is not set for scanning film.
Solution 1: Select your scanner and click [OK] in [Settings] window of CanoScan Toolbox.
Solution 2: Select [Film] or [Auto mode] in [Select Source] in each button's settings window.

Checking resolution and data size
You can check the file size of the image before scanning in ScanGear's [Advanced Mode].
The light unit inside of the scanner is not fully warmed up.
Wait for a minute or two until the light unit warms up, then try scanning again.
