Environmental Certifications
ISO 14001
ISO 14001 certification is basedon the international standards outlined by the International Organizationfor Standardization (ISO). It is primarily concerned with environmentalmanagement systems. This certification is awarded to companies which consciously reduce harmful effects on the environment in their activities.
In August 2006, Canon SingaporePte Ltd was awarded the Group ISO 14001 certification. With the successfulconversion from its individual certification to consolidated group certification, Canon Singapore Pte. Ltd.has demonstrated an environmental management strategy to bring about sustainable development in linewith the Canon Inc Group name. Like its headquarters, Canon Singaporeis concerned about the potential impact of their activities, processes,products and services on the environment.
Currently, Canon Inc.'s 47 businessesand subsidiaries, 17 marketing offices in Europe, USA and Australiaand 5 offices in Asia (excluding Japan) have received ISO 14001 consolidatedgroup certification. The company planned to completely switch to group certification that covers all overseas production sites and sales companies by 2007.
Green Label Certification
The Green Label certification isa scheme that awards environment-friendly products. This award isgiven by the Singapore Environmental Council (SEC).
Canon Singapore Pte Ltd is the first company to obtain Green Label Certification for copiers in November 2004. Currently 8 models iR2200, iR2800, iR3300, iR2270, iR3570, iR4570, iR5570 and iR6570 have obtained the eco label. The Green Label Certification attests to Canon’s pro-environment approach in product design and manufacturing.
