    Front View



    (1) Paper Guide
    Slide against the left side of the paper stack to support paper so that it feeds properly.

    (2) Paper Support
    Open to load paper in the Rear Tray.

    (3) Rear Tray
    Load paper here before printing. Paper feeds automatically, one sheet at a time.

    (4) Top Cover
    Open it when replacing the FINE Cartridges or removing jammed paper remaining inside the printer.

    (5) Paper Output Tray
    Supports the printout. Open it fully before printing.

    (6) Output Tray Extension
    Supports output printouts. Extend it before printing.

    (7) Power button
    Turns the printer on and off.

    (8) RESUME/CANCEL button
    Press after resolving a printer error to dismiss an error message and resume printing. Press to cancel a print job in progress.

    (9) Alarm lamp
    Lights or flashes orange when an error, such as paper-out or ink-out, occurs.

    (10) Power lamp
    Lights or flashes green to indicate the power status.

    Power Lamp and Alarm Lamp
    You can check the status of the printer by the Power and Alarm lamps.
    • Power lamp Off: The power is off.
    • Power lamp lit green: The printer is ready to print.
    • Power lamp flashing green: The printer is getting ready to print, or printing is in progress.
    • Alarm lamp flashing orange: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print. For details, see [ Alarm Lamp Flashes Orange ].
    • Power lamp flashes green once and Alarm lamp flashes orange once alternately: An error that requires contacting your Canon Service representative may have occurred. For details, see [ Power Lamp Flashes Green and Alarm Lamp Flashes Orange Alternately ].

    (11) Power Cord Connector
    Plug in the supplied power cord here.

    (12) USB Port
    Plug in the USB cable connecting the printer to a computer here.
    IMPORTANT
    • While the printer is printing from the computer, or the computer is in the sleep mode orstandby mode, do not disconnect or connect the USB cable.
    • Before placing the printer, see "Safety Precautions"
    • Place the printer at least 5.91 inches / 15 cm away from other electrical appliances such as fluorescent lamps. If the printer is placed closer to those, it may not be able to work properly due to fluorescent noises.

    (13) FINE Cartridge Holder
    Install the FINE Cartridges here.
    The Black FINE Cartridge should be installed into the left slot (B) and the Color FINE Cartridge should be into the right slot (C).

    (14) FINE Cartridges (Ink Cartridges)
    A replaceable cartridge that is Print Head and ink tank integrated.
    REFERENCE

    (15) Paper Thickness Lever
    Switches the clearance between the Print Head and the loaded paper to match the media type.
    NOTE
    The position of the Paper Thickness Lever
    • Set to the right when printing on envelopes or T-shirt transfers.
    • Set to the left when printing on paper other than envelopes or T-shirt transfers.

    IMPORTANT
    This part (A) indicated in the below illustration may be covered by splattered ink. It does not affect the performance of the printer.
    Do not touch this part (A). The printer may not print out properly if you touch it.
