This 70-200mm f/2.8L lens offers enhanced mobility without sacrificing image quality or performance. Its overall length is just 146mm (approx.), making it the world’s shortest* lens in this class, and it weighs a mere 1,070g (excluding the tripod mount). Taking advantage of the large aperture design and short back focus unique to the RF mount, a large-aperture lens element was placed near the focal plane of the camera side, successfully downsizing the entire optical system. The optical design features 17 lens elements in 13 groups, including one Super Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) lens, three UD lenses, one UD aspherical lens, and one glass-molded aspherical lens, to reduce aberration and preserve high image quality from the center of the picture to the periphery. The lens maintains high image quality throughout the zoom range, with a broad focal-length range from 70mm to 200mm. In addition to good basic performance, the lens offers outstanding reliability to meet the needs of all photographers.
