The EF mount version of this 24-70mm lens has already established a strong reputation, and Canon now offers an RF mount version. This version is equipped with an image stabilization mechanism, but remains about the same size. When used in coordinated control with the camera’s in-body IS, the lens provides an image stabilization effect equivalent to an 8.0-stop*1 increase in shutter speed. The optical design includes 21 elements in 15 groups, including three glass-molded aspherical lenses and three Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) lenses, to reduce the aberrations that can diminish image quality. Special coatings help to ensure an image quality worthy of an L-series lens, including Air Sphere Coating (ASC) to reduce lens flare and ghosting. Dust- and water-resistant features*2 are employed throughout, including the lens joints and switch panel, to ensure reliability. This new-generation standard zoom lens expands the potential range of photographic expression.
*1 When EOS R5 is used with a focal length of 70mm. According to CIPA standards (yaw/pitch directions only).
*2 This does not guarantee that water and dust will not penetrate the camera.
