Canon continues to expand the boundaries of optical design. This standard zoom lens is the first ever* to offer a maximum f/2 aperture, providing an unprecedented range of potential photographic expression. The large diameter and short back focus provided by the RF mount offer an unprecedented degree of optical design flexibility, along with image quality throughout the zoom range which matches that of single focal-length lenses. An effective arrangement of two ground aspherical elements, two glass-molded aspherical elements and a super Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) element ensures high resolution and high contrast from the center of the image to the periphery. In addition, two special coatings, Subwavelength-structure Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC), suppress lens flare and ghosting even in backlit conditions. Whether taking wedding photos or portraits, landscapes or astronomical photographs, this lens surpasses conventional zoom lenses in expressiveness to make the dreams of photographers come true.
